PAA-CAR Holds 4th Regional Convention: Upholding Sustainable Agricultural Development in the Cordillera Region
PAA-CAR convention gathers overwhelming attendance from the six provinces in North Luzon
The Philippine Association of Agriculturists - Cordillera Administrative Region (PAA-CAR) Chapter, led by its regional president, Mr. Gerardo P. Banawa, organized its 4th Regional Chapter Convention, championing the theme “Enhancing Professional Agriculturists towards a Strong and Sustainable Agriculture Sector.”
The three-day event, which harnessed 19 CPD units for professional agriculturists, was held at the Benguet Sports Complex in Wangal, La Trinidad, Benguet from 4 to 6 March 2025.
Serving as the inspirational speaker was PAA Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Roberto F. Rañola, Jr., whose message of congratulations was delivered by Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr., PAA National President and former Chancellor of the University of the Philippines Los Baños.
In his message, Dr. Rañola lauded the PAA-CAR for gathering fellow agriculturists, extension workers, and experts to join the mission in sustainable farming practices and effective natural resource management.
He added that CAR is at the forefront of this mission because it is home to a vibrant culture, rich Filipino heritage, and diverse agricultural terrain that needs to be protected to ensure food and nutrition security for the generations to come. He encouraged the participants to initiate stakeholder engagement in the said mission.
“...to truly make an impact, we must partner with the community and encourage participation from various stakeholders in the agriculture sector for a united vision,” Dr. Rañola said.
The 4th PAA-CAR regional convention was a vibrant gathering of more than 400 registered agriculturists and agriculture extension workers from North Luzon. The Cordillera Administrative Region, dubbed as the “Watershed Cradle of North Luzon,” consists of the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, and Mountain Province.
As a professional organization that upholds human resource and professional development as one of its strategic pillars, the PAA national office firmly supports this Regional Convention that ultimately aims to provide professional development for its members. Present to grace the event were PAA National President Dr. Sanchez, PAA BOT member Mr. Ramon Oliveros, and PAA Executive Secretary Ms. Theresa Carpio.
