PRESS RELEASE: Professional Agriculturists Gear Up Towards the Fourth Agriculture Revolution
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA), Inc., the only Accredited Integrated Professional Organization (AIPO) for Agriculture in the Philippines, will be holding the 7th National Congress and 2019 Philippine Agriculturists’ Summit on July 7-11, 2019 at the Philippine International Convention Center, City of Pasay, Metro Manila.
The theme for this year’s summit: “Embracing and Institutionalizing the 4th Agriculture Revolution in the Digital Age,” will bring together academics, farmers, organizations, government, entrepreneurs, investors, and industry experts from around the Philippines and the ASEAN region to discuss the role of Agriculture Revolution 4.0 (AG 4.0) in defining the future of Philippine Agriculture.
Through AG 4.0, agricultural operations will have to be run very efficiently with the use of advanced technologies such as sensors, devices, machines, and information technology that will allow farms to be more profitable, efficient, safe, and environmentally friendly. On the other hand, it is important to consider the fact based on studies that agricultural workers, particularly small farmers, are the most vulnerable at the highest risk among all workers from the coming new era of technological advancement.
The 5-day event aims to gain a better perspective of the marketing initiatives and alliances that are being pursued by the farmers and agribusiness entrepreneurs to competitively manage buyers’ evolving needs and wants for agricultural products; exploring alternative ways of supporting the innovation fields of AG 4.0; and determining strategic directions to nurture the gains of AG 4.0 through improved governance, sound policies, and preparing tomorrow’s agricultural workforce. An Agri-Ecotour will also be conducted at the end of the event.
To be co-hosted by the PAA National Capital Region Scyphiphora and CALABARZON Sierra Madre Chapters, the event offers corresponding Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points to all licensed agriculturists who will participate. (EABelen & ADGasmen)
